Pool Safety Cover Installation in Guelph
Custom-measured covers that keep your family safe, stop the leaves, and turn spring opening into a one hour job.
What We Do
A safety cover isn't a tarp. It's a barrier your kids can walk on.
We've been installing pool safety covers across Guelph, Fergus, Elora, Rockwood, and Wellington County since 2006. Every cover is measured on site and cut to your pool's exact shape, including steps, diving boards, and irregular corners. Anchors are set flush into your deck so there's nothing to trip over once the cover comes off for the season.
Mesh covers let snow and rain pass through, so your pool stays full and ready for a same-day spring startup. No water bags, no pump-off, no green water in May. Fixed quote before work begins, and most installs are completed in a single visit.

Why Install a Safety Cover
Eight months of the year, your pool is a hole in the ground.
A tarp and water bags do not stop a child or a pet from getting into the water. A properly installed safety cover does. It anchors into your deck under tension and is built to hold the weight of an adult, so an accidental step onto the cover ends with someone standing on it rather than under it.
The rest of the value shows up every spring. Leaves blow off instead of sinking. Snow melts straight through the mesh, so the pool stays full and the water stays clear. There is no soaked tarp to drag across the lawn, no water bags to drain, and no month of chasing algae in May. Most of our customers tell us the first spring opening paid for the inconvenience of not having one sooner.
How It Works
From measurement to first snowfall. Here's what to expect.
Step 01
On-Site Measurement
We measure your pool in person, not from a drawing. Steps, diving boards, and irregular corners all get mapped so the cover fits the pool you actually have.
Step 02
Cover Selection
We walk you through mesh versus solid, colours, and warranty terms, then give you a fixed quote. Covers are cut to order, so allow two to four weeks.
Step 03
Anchor Installation
We core-drill and set brass anchors into your concrete, paver, or wood deck. Anchors sit flush with the surface, so there is nothing to trip over or mow around.
Step 04
Fit and Tension
We install the cover, tension every strap, and walk it with you so you know how to take it off and put it back on. Most installs are done in one visit.

Pool Safety Cover FAQ
Your pool safety cover questions, answered.
How much does a pool safety cover cost in Ontario?
Most inground pool safety covers in Ontario fall between $2,000 and $4,500 installed, including hardware and anchor installation. Mesh covers sit at the lower end of that range and solid covers at the higher end. Price depends on the size and shape of your pool, whether you have steps, a diving board, or raised walls, and the type of deck the anchors are set into. Custom shapes and attached spas add to the cost. Pristine Pools provides a fixed quote after the on-site measurement, with no change orders once work begins.
Should I choose a mesh or solid pool safety cover?
Mesh is the better choice for most Ontario pools. Mesh lets snowmelt and rain drain straight through, so there is no standing water to pump off, the cover is light enough for one person to handle, and it typically lasts 10 to 15 years. The trade-off is that fine debris and sunlight pass through, so you will vacuum and shock at opening. Solid covers block everything, which means clearer water in spring, but they need a cover pump, take two people to handle, and generally last 7 to 11 years. If you have heavy tree cover and want the cleanest possible spring opening, solid is worth the extra cost.
Can a pool safety cover be repaired instead of replaced?
Yes, in many cases. Torn straps, broken springs, pulled or seized anchors, and small tears in the panel can all be repaired without replacing the whole cover, and a repair is usually a fraction of the cost of a new one. Replacement makes more sense when the fabric has gone brittle from UV exposure, when seams are failing in multiple places, or when the cover is past 12 years old. Pristine Pools will assess the cover and give you an honest recommendation on whether repair or replacement is the better spend.
How long does a pool safety cover last?
A properly installed mesh safety cover lasts 10 to 15 years, and a solid cover lasts 7 to 11 years. Most manufacturers back them with a warranty in the 12 to 15 year range, often prorated. Lifespan depends heavily on installation quality. A cover that is tensioned correctly and sized properly wears evenly, while one that is loose or undersized abrades at the deck edge and fails years early. Brass anchors set into the deck typically outlast the cover itself and can be reused when the cover is replaced.
Will a pool safety cover really hold the weight of a child?
Yes. Covers that meet the ASTM F1346 safety standard are tested to hold a static load of 485 pounds, which is roughly two adults and a child. That is the standard that separates a true safety cover from a winter tarp. A tarp held down with water bags supports almost no weight and creates a drowning hazard, because a child who steps onto it sinks underneath and the tarp closes over them. A safety cover anchored under tension keeps them on top of the water.
Can a safety cover be installed on any pool shape?
Yes. Every cover we install is measured on site and manufactured to your pool's exact outline, including freeform shapes, roman ends, wraparound steps, diving boards, raised bond beams, and attached spas. Obstacles like handrails, ladders, and slides are worked into the pattern. Anchors can be set into concrete, pavers, natural stone, or wood decking, and where there is no hard surface we use lawn anchors or a small concrete collar.
When should I book a pool safety cover installation?
Book by late summer for a fall install. Covers are cut to order and manufacturing takes two to four weeks, and the closing season in Guelph runs from mid-September through late October, which is when installers are booked solid. Starting the process in July or August means your cover is on site and ready to go on the day of your pool closing rather than weeks after. If you are replacing an existing cover, a spring measurement is even better.
Ready to cover your pool properly?
Every install starts with an on-site measurement. We'll map your pool, walk you through mesh versus solid, and give you a fixed price before any work begins.
