Pool Maintenance
Pool Closings Wellington County
A proper winterization protects your equipment and liner through a Canadian winter. Done right the first time.
What We Do
A proper closing in fall means an easier opening in spring.
We've been closing pools across Guelph, Fergus, Elora, Rockwood, Acton, and Wellington County since 2006. A pool closing is not just putting the cover on. It is a full winterization that protects your plumbing, equipment, and liner through months of Ontario freeze-thaw cycles. Done incorrectly, a single hard freeze can crack lines, damage the pump, or split the heater manifold.
We close pools we installed and pools we didn't. If you are looking for a reliable crew to take over your seasonal service, we are taking on new clients across Wellington County.

What's Included
Everything your pool needs to survive an Ontario winter.
Our pool closing service covers lowering the water level, blowing out and plugging all plumbing lines, adding winterizing chemicals, removing and storing accessories, disconnecting and winterizing the pump, filter, and heater, and installing the safety cover. Every step is done to manufacturer spec.
If we find anything during the closing that needs attention before winter, we tell you on the spot and quote the repair before we leave. The goal is to have your pool protected and ready for spring before the first hard freeze hits.

Pool Closing FAQ
Your pool closing questions, answered.
When should I close my pool in Ontario?
Most pools in Ontario are closed between late September and mid-October. Closing too early wastes swim season. Waiting too long risks a hard freeze damaging unprotected plumbing and equipment. A consistent water temperature below 15 degrees Celsius is generally the right signal to close. Pristine Pools monitors seasonal conditions across Wellington County and advises clients on timing each fall.
What is included in a professional pool closing?
A professional pool closing includes lowering the water level, blowing out and plugging all plumbing lines, adding winterizing chemicals, removing and storing accessories, disconnecting and winterizing the pump, filter, and heater, and installing the safety cover. Pristine Pools completes every step to manufacturer specification in a single visit across Wellington County.
How long does a pool closing take?
A standard pool closing typically takes 2 to 4 hours depending on pool size, cover type, and equipment configuration. Pools that were properly maintained through the season are faster to close and easier to open in spring. Pristine Pools completes the full winterization in a single visit across Wellington County.
What happens if my pool is not closed properly in Ontario?
An improperly closed pool in Ontario is at serious risk of freeze damage. Water left in plumbing lines can expand during a hard freeze and crack PVC pipes, split the pump housing, crack the filter tank, or damage the heater manifold. Repairs from freeze damage are costly and often require parts that need to be ordered. A proper closing by an experienced crew is significantly cheaper than fixing winter damage in spring.
How far in advance should I book a pool closing in Wellington County?
Fall pool closing slots in Wellington County fill up quickly as all clients need service within a narrow window. Pristine Pools recommends booking your closing in August or early September to secure your preferred date. Waiting until October to book increases the risk of not getting a slot before the first hard freeze, which can leave your pool unprotected.
Do I need to be home when my pool is closed?
You do not need to be home for a pool closing provided we have access to the pool and equipment. Many clients leave a gate code or key for access. We complete the full winterization, leave a summary of what was done, and flag anything that needs attention before spring. If we find an issue that requires your input before proceeding, we will contact you directly.
What is the difference between a mesh and solid safety cover?
A mesh safety cover allows water to drain through while keeping debris out. It is lighter and easier to install and remove. A solid safety cover keeps both water and debris out but requires a pump to remove standing water that accumulates on top. Both provide safety protection against accidental entry. Pristine Pools can advise on the right cover type for your pool and yard during the closing visit.
